Dr. Smith's educational journey began at Midland High School, followed by undergraduate studies at Midland College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He then went to Texas A&M College of Medicine and graduated with high honors. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency, where he also served as chief resident at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. He pursued further specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology during his fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center, where he fine-tuned his skills in advanced endoscopic procedures.
