Dr. Andrew Young Bio

My involvement in sport and physical activity began shortly after birth. Always getting into fights with my cousin at a young age, our parents threw us into Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to formally battle. After taking too many spinning back kicks to the face, I decided to explore new challenges and participate in a wide variety of individual and team sports (baseball, basketball, soccer, badminton etc.). Lifting heavy things at the gym and calisthenics became part of my daily routine starting in high school. Through sport and training is where developed a strong interest and appreciation for the complexity of the human body and all the amazing things we are capable of doing with it. Dr. Andrew Young received his Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. In addition, he also received his Diploma of Massage Therapy from the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy and an Honours Degree in Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University. A former provincial athlete and medalist in martial arts, Dr. Andrew was involved in sport at a young age. After his martial arts career, he switched gears and began to explore new challenges, participating in a wide variety of individual and team sports. He developed a strong interest and appreciation over the complexity of the human body and the amazing things we are all capable of doing with it. Now a weekend warrior and sports fanatic, you’ll likely find Dr. Andrew at his best friend Gym’s place, playing recreational sports, hiking and traveling the globe outside of the clinic! Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area? Patient-centered care. My goals are your goals. There’s nothing more important to me than empowering my patients by helping them understand and take control of their situation and actively engage in their own health outcomes. After educating my patients on their injury/conditions, I always make an effort to empower them and teach self-management tools in combination with manual therapies to achieve their individual goals, manage their pain and improve their overall function. I strive to help my patients get back to doing the things they love to do! What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on? I like to use a combination of treatment techniques including myofascial release therapy and deep tissue massage, chiropractic adjustments/joint mobilizations and exercise rehabilitation programs tailored to your individual goals to promote recovery and prevent future injury. Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why? I don’t discriminate! I enjoy treating any muscle, tendon, ligament, bone/joint, or nerve-related condition/injury within the human body. Whether you’re a student, athlete, working in trades or at the office, retired or anything in between, I’m excited to work together and get you better!

It's great that you're considering chiropractic care for various conditions. Chiropractors can indeed provide treatments to address neuromusculoskeletal issues, including those related to scoliosis, hip and pelvis pain, and shoulder arthritis. However, it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a local chiropractor, to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your specific situation.

For scoliosis, chiropractic care may involve spinal adjustments and exercises aimed at improving posture and reducing spinal curvature. A chiropractor can assess the severity of scoliosis and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.

In the case of hip and pelvis pain, chiropractors can assess the underlying cause of the pain and provide treatments such as spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and other modalities to alleviate symptoms and promote healing.

Regarding shoulder arthritis, chiropractors may offer non-surgical treatment options to help manage the condition. These options can include rest, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), chiropractic adjustments to improve range of motion, corticosteroid injections, and heat/cold therapy. However, the specific treatment plan would depend on the individual's condition and should be discussed with a chiropractor.

Remember, while chiropractic care can be beneficial for many individuals, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the treatments are appropriate for your specific needs. Consulting with a local chiropractor would allow you to discuss your condition in detail and determine the best course of action.
