Your eyes have clear liquid that flows in and out, but if you have glaucoma, this liquid doesn’t drain properly, causing this buildup of IOP pressure. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve, which is made up of nerve fibers and transmits images from the eye to your brain. If you have a condition known as ocular hypertension, which is a result of high ocular pressure, your risk of developing glaucoma increases.Your optometrist or ophthalmologist may want to lower your IOP as a preventative measure.

Our eye works a lot like a camera. In order for us to see clearly, the Cornea has light has to be focused by a lens. We are all born with a lens inside our eye that does this job for us and in early life it is crystal clear. As we age, this lens can become cloudy and begin to block light or create blur. We call this change in the lens a “cataract”.

Fortunately, cataracts are treatable through surgery. During cataract surgery, the clouded lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure is highly successful in restoring clear vision for most people, allowing them to see more clearly and improve their quality of life.

I was referred to Dr. Muzychuk by optometrist Dr. Waddell of Eye Effects in Strathcona, for cataracts in both eyes. I was apprehensive about eye surgery but was reassured it was very minor and easy. And so it was. I just finished my second cataract surgery on March 14/22 and am extremely pleased with the results. I have worn glasses since my teen years (I am now 75), and now can see extremely well without glasses (except for very close up) just 2 days after my most recent surgery. It seems hard to believe. I won't need glasses for driving or watching tv etc. Dr. Muzychuk is not only an extremely competent professional, but very pleasant and helpful. Can't recommend high enough. Beware however, he is very busy, and understandably so, so be prepared to wait some. It is worth it. WJS Calgary

Dr. Adam is professional and is able to answer my questions. But the front desk staff are rude . When you phone the office the person answering the phone hangs up on you. The assistant to dr. Adam is unprofessional and rude to patients. This office has no COVID-19 guidelines.

Excellent surgeon, but extremely poor hand hygiene in his office - in fact, there was NO hand hygiene performed between patients! As a health care provider, I'm well aware of the potential for cross-contamination between patients, and none of the nurses in his office performed any hand hygiene when administering eye drops. I also witnessed the office clerk being extremely rude to patients when on the phone - and she was verbally abusive to her co-workers. She displayed a complete lack of patient confidentiality and constantly made negative comments about patients after her telephone conversations. It's a very busy office, and to be exposed to such a lack of professionalism is disappointing. As noted above, Dr. Adam is an excellent Ophthalmologist, but his office staff fail in patient care, proper procedure, and patient confidentiality.
