Dr. Claire Benmergui was born and raised in Montreal. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree with honours at McGill University. She then received her doctor of dental surgery degree at the university of Toronto also with honours. She received the Canadian association of oral and maxillofacial surgeon prize, for the highest standing in clinical oral surgery. She received the Joseph Harker Johnson Scholarship for most outstanding student in clinical oral surgery anesthesia. She also received the Dr. Charles Hyman Moses prize for superior ability in clinical prosthodontics and the Harold Keith Box medal for outstanding student in clinical periodontics. After graduating, she completed one-year residency at Toronto general hospital, where she focused on treating extremely serious dental emergencies and medically compromised patients.
