Respiratory Therapists

A respiratory therapist treats people with disorders affecting the cardiopulmonary system, helping patients with conditions such as asthma, pneumonia, emphysema and cardiovascular disorders to breathe. They often work in high-risk settings including emergency departments and operating rooms. In treating patients a respiratory therapist can also educate them on proper infection control practices, breathing exercises, breathing tests, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, injury rehabilitation and cystic fibrosis.
