So a single tooth implant is a conservative option to replace a tooth that we've lost, either from fracture, from infection, from gum disease, and it allows us to restore the site with a single crown.

Old way of treating or another option would be to have cut down the teeth on either side and placed a bridge. If those teeth are solid, and they're virgin teeth, we don't want to be compromising them.

So what we do is plan to remove the tooth, either with an immediate implant, or doing a bone graft just to build up the bone, delaying an implant placement. Down the road, what we've got is a replaced root so to speak.

On top of that, your dentist can place a crown, you've restored your bite, you can eat as you normally would as a normal tooth, and it would look as a normal tooth.
