It's not bad if women go past their due date.

In fact, given that the due date is somewhere in the middle of that distribution, that curve of number of women, or when women deliver, about half of the women will deliver beyond 40 weeks.

It can be frustrating in the heat of summer to go late into your pregnancy but it's not bad for the mother or for the baby to go past the due date.

Going past term, going past 42 weeks is of concern only because there's a rise in the rare event of a stillbirth, but beyond the 40-week time, or the 40-week date, it's not a bad thing.

If you're pregnant and have gone past your due date and have concerns then certainly contact your obstetrician, family doctor or midwife that is caring for you during the pregnancy.
