There are several types of digital X-rays, but generally you use a sensor that you put in your mouth and it's connected to the computer.

That digital image goes right into your digital file. And with your digital X-rays, unlike regular X-rays, you get somewhat less radiation. The other advantage is if a regular X-ray comes out too dark or light, we need to retake it. With a digital X-ray, we can enhance it.

We can lighten, darken, enlarge, and zoom in to see what's going on. The other advantage with digital X-rays is that they can be electronically transmitted. So if you move across the city or halfway across the world, you can send the X-ray really quickly. You can also send them to a specialist in a far away city and have a diagnosis.

The other advantage is that we don't use the toxic chemicals. We don't have to worry about the chemical waste that come swith developing a digital X-ray. So, ask your dentist about digital X-rays.
