Depression is very common and it is, in fact, the leading cause of disability, but the good news is that depression is very much treatable.

We have many different strategies to help people with depression. We have psychological strategies. We have pharmacological strategies. Psychological strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy or interpersonal psychotherapy are very effective in treating depressive symptoms in people that mild to moderate depression.

We also have medicines, many different types of medicines that work equally well in treating depressive symptoms of different types of severity. If you think you’re experiencing some depressive symptoms, make sure to speak with your family physician or a psychiatrist to get a full assessment, and get appropriate help.
