Mai Holmes Bio

Mai Holmes started practicing in 2012 after graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. Since then, she has continued to grow her practice with a special interest in fascial work supporting the optimal movement of the body. Her post-graduation courses have led her to the Biodynamic Fascial Integration program taught by highly respected and well-educated mentors. Working with the many layers of the body has provided Mai with a deeper understanding of how it responds to treatment. She uses various non-traditional modalities allowing the body to find self-expression and healing. “I am passionate about the healing power of the human body and the results that can be achieved with a natural form of medicine such as manual therapy. It’s a privilege to share that.” Mai considers her practice in therapy as a continuous learning process and developing journey much like her Pilates, yoga, spinning, and everything else that keeps her moving. Advanced Certifications: Biodynamic Fascial Integration: fascial mobilization, visceral manipulation, and craniosacral therapy, Calibrate Clinical Pilates Instructor, Anatomy Trains Structural Integration – Pain and Movement, ANS Balance – Manual Treatment of the Thoracic Cage. Book in for the RMT with Movement Fundamentals treatment, with Mai, where manual therapy is complimented by guided therapeutic exercises. Break down dysfunctional patterns to build yourself back up again with flexibility, stability and mobility. Mai Holmes now offers PEMF treatments at Broadway Wellness. PEMF – Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Fields therapy is a non-invasive treatment that produces an electromagnetic frequency to cause cellular action in the body. It can greatly improve the benefits of other modalities, as often, health conditions have multiple components. Acute, chronic pain and overall health can be treated as full body or with specific intention depending on the applications. Therapeutic PEMFs are studied across the world with much scientific research concluding that there is no significant side effects or risk of harm. Mai Holmes is a certified Lifestyle Consultant that uses the iMRS Omnium1 which was researched and created by NASA for astronauts that were leaving earth’s orbit and getting sick. They use the iMRS Omnium1 PEMF applications to match the Earth’s magnetic field properties bringing nearly all 75 trillion cells into harmonic tone. With this holistic approach it enhances the self-healing powers of the body while supporting the biorhythm of the organ clock. Blending these rhythms with natural earth frequencies stimulates the immune, metabolic, neurological, endocrine, circulatory and musculoskeletal systems. Scientific studies show an increase in energy, vitality, improved sleep, decreased stress response, reduced pain and overall wellbeing. Use PEMF therapy to promote healing through cellular restoration while enjoying this gentle, universal approach to treatment. PEMF is a separate service that is not billable or conducted by a Registered Massage Therapist

Registered massage therapists help with whiplash is an injury that you experience, that most people experience, from car accidents. You can also have it from a sports injury. The technical term for whiplash in the medical literature is whiplash associated disorders, or WAD, and that’s what we’re going to refer to it as today. WAD happens when your head is thrown about, usually forward and sometimes backwards and side to side and treatment from a local RMT Registered Massage Therapist .

It can be any other direction but that’s the general idea. And it’s an acceleration, deacceleration injury when the neck structures have to respond to that force that comes into you.The types of symptoms that you might expect after a car accident and a whiplash injury would be anywhere from moderate to no symptoms at all. And the moderate symptoms generally consist of stiffness in the neck, some mild achiness, maybe some mild headache, and you might feel that you’re more sensitive to cold than you normally are.

The more severe symptoms that people might feel are ringing in the ears, dizziness, loss of memory and pain coming down their arms. With whiplash injuries, there are many factors that go into deciding how much pain you’re going to be in.The force of the impact is one, and in some cases – not all cases – people have what they call low velocity injuries, where it’s a slow-moving, low-impact, but the patient experiences a lot of pain afterwards.

And a lot of patients have really bad injuries and have no pain afterwards, and so what’s the difference? The difference is the intangible factors that come into deciding how much pain you have. One of them – or a couple of them – are social factors and often seeing a local RMT Registered Massage Therapist .

So, how your social life, your home life, your work life is going. If you’re experiencing any anxiety and depression at the time. Also, general health will affect how much pain you experience, so the better your health the less impact it’s going to have, the worse your health you’re going to experience more pain.Women also tend to experience more pain after car accidents and whiplash injuries, and it’s generally thought it’s the ligament laxity or the joints are a little bit looser in women, they tend to be more flexible, so when impact comes they move more and tend to be injured more during car accidents. If you have any further questions about whiplash injuries, you can go see your local rehabilitation therapist. Those therapists are either your massage therapist, your physiotherapist or your chiropractor.
