I'm glad to hear that you had a positive experience with Dr. Bennett and the team at VGH (presumably Vancouver General Hospital) during your arrhythmia treatment. It's reassuring to have a physician with a great bedside manner who takes the time to explain the risks and options to you. Cardioversion and ablation surgery are common procedures used to treat arrhythmias, and it's unfortunate that the initial cardioversion didn't provide long-term relief. However, it's encouraging to know that the subsequent ablation surgery was successful in resolving your arrhythmia. It's understandable that managing the blood thinner routine prior to surgery can be challenging, and it's commendable that Dr. Bennett took the time to discuss the associated risks with you. Ultimately, you made an informed decision to proceed, and the excellent outcome speaks to the expertise and care provided by Dr. Bennett and the medical team. Although a slightly higher heart rate may be a minor side effect, it's important to note that everyone's body responds differently to procedures and the recovery process. It's always a good idea to communicate any concerns or changes in symptoms to your healthcare provider. It's wonderful that you received exceptional support from the team at VGH throughout your treatment. Dealing with a medical condition can be stressful, and having a supportive and dedicated team by your side can make a significant difference in your overall experience. Thank you for sharing your story, and I'm glad that you're now enjoying a Swiss clock-like heart rhythm. It's a testament to the skill and dedication of Dr. Bennett and the medical team at VGH.

I had a persistent arrhythmia for over 3 years. Dr. B did a cardioversion on me which failed after 10 days. Within 2 months, I was back getting ablation surgery. I was 54 at the time of surgery, in excellent physical condition otherwise. I am now 55 and after 1 full year, my heart has been Swiss clock like. Dr Bennett has a great bedside manner and takes the time to explain the risks. I messed up my pre-surgery blood thinner routine and he explained that risk to me offering to postpone. On balance, it seemed fine to proceed and had an excellent outcome. The only side effect I have is a slightly higher than normal heart beat, probably 8 beats per min faster. The team at VGH providing support is truly awesome! Thank you Dr. Bennett for your dedication and attention to detail, it makes a huge impact on a stressful situation.
