This learn to skate program is designed for adults new to ice skating who have little or no skating experience. Using the CanSkate program outline, skaters will learn basic skating skills including stopping, forward and backward skating, balance, and spins.
A certified skating coach will teach in a group format for this 50-minute session. The adult learn to skate program is ideal for those either interested in learning to skate for exercise or recreation, or who want to increase their skating knowledge so they can pursue figure skating or hockey.
This program is open to adults aged 18 years or older.
No previous skating experience is required.
It is recommended that a CSA approved hockey helmet be worn during the session and skaters must provide their own hockey or figure skates.
CanPower - 50 minutes
Ages: 5 - 12
CanPowerSkate is a high-energy program geared towards hockey players who are looking for a fast-paced program that teaches balance, power, agility, speed, and endurance. Sessions are taught by a qualified CanPowerSkate coach. Skaters will learn in full equipment using sticks, without pucks.
Skaters must be able to skate the length of the ice to qualify for this program.
Participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and wear full hockey equipment. Skaters must bring their own equipment, hockey skates, and sticks.
Preschool Canskate - 30 minutes
Ages: 3 - 5
This entry-level program is ideal for beginner skaters aged three to five who are ready to get on the ice without a parent. Children learn the basics of skating including falling down and getting up, gliding, and skating forward by a qualified CanSkate coach with the help of CanSkate Program Assistants. This 30-minute program uses toys, games, and songs to get your child moving in a fun learning environment.
