Laser Hygiene Service
One of today’s newest and most exciting developments in the field of dentistry is laser dentistry. Dental Lasers enable us to replace many traditional techniques in favor of dental laser technology. The dental laser can be used to replace surgical methods of gum recontouring and reshaping.
Little or no anesthesia, faster healing and considerably less pain than traditional surgical methods are just a few of the benefits that laser technology has brought to the field of dentistry.
Neuromuscular Dentistry
Neuromuscular dentistry can realign your bite and resolve your TMJ / TMD symptoms. To put it simply, neuromuscular dentistry places the jaw into its optimal position, relieving the symptoms associated with TMJ. While traditional dentistry evaluates primarily the teeth, bones, and gums, neuromuscular dentistry works with the hard tissues and the soft tissues, muscles and nerves. Neuromuscular dentists understand that your hard and soft tissues have a complex relationship and work to make that relationship a harmonious one. Neuromuscular dentists understand the necessity for including the power source (muscles) and the controls (nerves) which create the movement, pressures, and function of the mouth.

When it comes to early detection, The old-á"early" is too late!
Oral cancer kills one person every hour of every day in North America
Unlike several other cancers, the survival rate for Oral Cancer has remained relatively constant for decades.-áThe overall survival rate for oral and oropharyngeal cancer is currently only 52% but if the patients are diagnosed "earlier" the survival rate jumps to 80%.-áThe high mortality rate-áassociated with oral cancer is caused particularly by the fact that it is usually found late in its development, patients’ lack of regular oral examinations, and-ádelays in seeking treatment. The problem with late detection was related to the fact there were few-áscreening technique advances made to help oral health practitioners detect early precancerous changes to the oral and orapharyngeal tissues.
Tobacco use, alcohol consumption and other chemical irritants-áare suspected factors in the initiation of oral and oropharyngeal cancers.-á However it has recently been shown that exposure to a particular virus, the HPV, has also been a factor.-á There are new statistics showing that 25% of newly diagnosed oral cancers do not fit the traditional high risk profile.
Gardiner Park Dental is very excited about the new technology that we are introducing.-á The VELscope is a sophisticated but simple direct optical fluorescence visualization technology.-á There is no staining dye, no surgical biopsy, and no invasive techniques for this screening technique.-á Early stage lesions are difficult to recognize with the human eye under normal examination conditions.-á Our new technology, the VELscope, will allow our specially trained practitioners to detect early changes to the tissue, making early diagnosis easier, and has become the new standard of care.
