A chiropractic adjustment (or manipulation) is a technique used to restore normal joint motion, which decreases pain and improves performance. How does it work? Your chiropractor will apply a high velocity (quick), low amplitude (short) “thrust” to a specific joint segment that’s not moving the way it should.
You may hear a “pop” or “crack” when you get adjusted — don’t panic! That’s totally normal. That sound is caused by a gas exchange in the joint capsule that occurs as space has been created in the joint. By restoring normal joint motion, the tissues in the area are able to function properly, which decreases pain, improves mobility and increases stability.
Chiropractic adjustments can help you with quite a few conditions, including:
Lower back pain
Sciatica
Disc herniations
Neck pain
Whiplash
Headaches
Ankle sprains
Tennis and golfer’s elbow
TMJ/TMD (jaw pain)
Scapular dyskinesia (shoulder pain)
