Health Talks:

Sexual preservation for BPH prostate surgery

Urology Practice isa great pleace to start to look into If you’re experiencing symptoms of male incontinence, a local urologist can help. A local urologist can ask about your symptoms and recommend further testing or male incontinence treatment. Urethral inserts like Contino® are temporarily inserted into the urethra (the tube which carries urine to the outside of the body) to prevent or reduce bladder leakage. Damage to the kidneys can lead to swelling in the hands and ankles, high blood pressure, and other symptoms.

Please contact ( Dr. Tony Finelli, Urologist Toronto, Ontario, ON ) to enquire if this health care provider is accepting new patients. Prostate Cancer NOW is part of the Now Health Network and its focus is on muscular and skeletal  conditions.  In summary, there are many different treatments for prostate cancer.  Identifying the best treatment will depend on your specific situation and your preference after discussion with your doctor. It is not true Asian men have the lowest risk of developing prostate cancer. African men have the highest risk. Often seeing a local urologist in Toronto can help.

Medications like alpha blockers don't actually treat BPH, they treat the symptoms by relaxing the muscle around the urethra, so thereby reducing some of the resistance.

Sometimes we will add in a second line medication in order to try and shrink the prostate. These medications are called the five alpha reductase inhibitors. So we have Proscar or Avodart These are medications which work by lowering the conversion of testosterone within the prostate. Over a period of 6 to 12 months, this can shrink the prostate by around 20%.

Ridiculous, been a patient for almost two years. No support from his staff...never answer phone or emails. Multiple appointments setup with Dr. Finelli but only speak with his assistants, once I spoke with him for 5 minutes after complaining he never gets involved. Might be a good surgeon but a terrible people person and no support from the staff. Worst healthcare I have ever received from any doctor. One course of action for a kidney tumor...remove entire kidney or a portion...that's it!!

I was experiencing burning while urinating. I was referred to Dr. Tony Finelli MD, MSC, FRCSC, Local Urologist, Toronto, Ontario ON. He recommended testing and it turns out I had benign prostatic hyperplasia, otherwise known as an enlarged prostate. I liked Dr. Finelli's personality and he was very resourceful. He took the time to explain my treatment options.

I went to see Dr. Tony Finelli MD, MSC, FRCSC, Local Urologist, Toronto, Ontario ON for prostate cancer testing. First I had a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test and then a digital rectal exam. My PSA level was over 10, which meant I likely had prostate cancer. My treatment ended up being active surveillance. I liked Dr. Finelli and would recommend him to other men undergoing prostate cancer screening.
